You have seen them on athletes’ stories, in airport lounges, on the desks of people who own more than one black athletic layer. Therabody — and the Theragun in particular — is the most recognised name in at-home recovery. The prices run from approachable to eye-watering. The reviews run from life-changing to a waste of money. The truth, as usual, is in the middle.

What the brand actually sells

Therabody began when chiropractor Dr. Jason Wersland built a percussion device after a motorcycle accident. The line now includes Theragun massage guns, the TheraFace Pro (percussion, microcurrent, LED, cleansing), a vibration sleep mask, RecoveryTherm heat and cold wraps, PowerDot EMS, and an app of guided routines. It is a premium ecosystem. You pay for that positioning.

Theragun Relief is the gentle door: lighter, quieter, better for beginners and daily ease than for athletes who already know they want depth. The Mini is the cult object — small enough for a nightstand and a suitcase, the model that converts sceptics. The Pro is the long-stroke, high-RPM machine for people who train hard. Independently, its 1,750–2,400 RPM range matches the spec. At that price, know that quieter alternatives exist for less.

Think of a Theragun as a powerful complement to recovery — not a substitute for sleep, food, or a physiotherapist.

What people actually love

TheraFace Pro is the surprise: users report calmer, more even skin with daily LED, and a face that holds less tension. The sleep mask does total blackout with contoured cups; the vibration is, for many, the thing that ends the day. Percussion therapy itself has evidence for reducing delayed-onset soreness, improving short-term range of motion, and increasing local blood flow. It is not treatment for injury, chronic pain, or a missing warm-up.

What to know before you pay

Durability complaints are higher than a brand at this price should collect. Register the warranty the day it arrives. Customer service is inconsistent. Several devices, PowerDot especially, are nearly useless if the app misbehaves. If you will use a gun twice a month, buy something cheaper. If you train, sit at a desk until your shoulders become architecture, or care seriously about sleep — Therabody can earn its keep. Buy the Mini or the Relief unless you already know you need the Pro.
